The cycle consists of five parts: Preludium, Ostinato, Rondino, Chorał, Postludium and is the first manifestation of Neo-baroque stylization in Spisak’s oeuvre. This reference is not limited to choice of form, but finds expression, too, in the selection of compositional techniques and devices of the Baroque – imitation, progressions and figurations. Suite was originally conceived for harpsichord, which has left a clear trace in a simplified, highly transparent textural layer. The composition has for several decades enjoyed the unfailing interest of performers, and is one of the pieces which make up the essential core of Michał Spisak’s musical achievement.
