This Autumn, the positives reviews of Euterpe publications have been
appeared in three British music magazines.
PIANO
MAGAZINE:
Zygmunt Noskowski – Chopin for the Young
„(...) Chopin is represented in another
Polish edition, this time from Euterpe. Zygmunt Noskowski, a much
younger contemporary of Chopin, arranged six of Chopin's neglected
songs for easy piano – attractively, idiomatically, and, in the
Euterpe edition, rather nicely illustrated, too. Off the beaten
track, interesting, fresh and fairly easy, these are nice
introductions to the real thing but not serious repertoire contenders
(...)”.
Robert
Parker, WINDS MAGAZINE:
Michał Spisak – Wind Quintet
„As a reviewer I am sometimes reminded of
Tom Hanks's classic line from the film Forrest Gump, when his
character says „Life's like a box of chocolates: you never know
what you're gonna get”. If you stay comfortably within your own
little musical world, only playing what you know, you will never
encounter music such as this Wind Quintet by Michał Spisak for
flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon”.
„Euterpe's website reveals that he has had
quite a few pieces published, mainly for orchestra, both with and
without soloists, although a list of his complete works show a more
balanced output including chamber music and choral works”.
„Michał Spisak's Wind Quintet is ideal
for an established, advanced group looking for new challenges”.
PIANO
PROFESSIONAL:
Zygmunt Noskowski – Chopin for the Young
Andrzej Cwojdziński
– Pictures Enchanted by Sounds
„Universal Edition have now become
responsible for distributing material from the Polish publishing firm
– Euterpe Wydawnictwo. Their composers are well-established
pedagogical experts in Poland and deserve world-wide recognition”.
„(...) The
arrangements (Noskowski's Chopin for the Young)
are all with the right hand playing the florid melodies over left
hand accompaniments which are never too thick or complex, thus
working well for Intermediate pianists who will delight in these
simple and appealing tunes”.
„(...) I do not
approve of transcriptions for piano but we are fortunate to have this
publication of really great music geared at intermediate pianists
which is also ideal sight-reading practice for more advanced
students.”
„The Andrzej Cwojdziński 15 Piano miniatures
for Children, are delightfully refreshing with their cantabile lines
accompanied by modern-sounding harmonies, and contemporary chord
clusters to enhance the character of the pieces. (…) The composer
is an experienced teacher and pedagogue himself and aims the pieces
at the level of students of Music Schools of the First Grade. It is
the wonderful diversity of mood and character throughout these
delightful pieces that will appeal to every young Intermediate
pianist along with the rhythmic complexities and humour”.
„The pupil cannot fail to delight in these
lively new pieces which are so full of character: Joke, Birds,
Waltzing Organ-Grinder and Sleeping City to name a few. The last four
pieces in this collection are pastiches in the styles of Mozart,
Chopin, Szymanowski and Bach which can only enhance the students'
musical education and imagination even further (...)”.
„Both publications are filled with enchanting
brightly coloured contemporary illustrations by Małgorzata Flis
which add to the excitement of painting pictures in the sound of
music”.
